Foraging and Wild Medicine Walk

NOW POSTPONED! This spring we were delighted to be hosting a morning of foraging, plant medicine and nature connection in the beautiful woodlands and estate of Brantwood, on the east side of Coniston water.  Unfortunately, due to the ongoing inclement weather and its impact on the flora, this workshop will now be rescheduled to later in the year.

This workshop will be an opportunity to spend time fully immersed in nature, exploring interactions between plants, animals and fungi, discovering traditional uses for native plants and learning woodland skills.

After introductions around the fire we will head off in search of wild things, taking in the meadows, upland heath and Atlantic oak woodlands of the wonderfully diverse Brantwood estate. It will be an intentionally slow walk, with lots of stopping, noticing and interacting with the plants and other things we find, using all of our senses to connect to the landscape. We encourage lots of questions and curiosity and will be happy to share our knowledge with the group, and will encourage everyone to do the same.

Along the way, we will be collecting edible plants that we will use to make a variety of wild teas back at our woodland base.

What’s included?
Warm drinks and cake, all equipment needed for wild tea making and plant identification (field guides, hand lens etc) and a Misc Adventures goody bag!

What do I need to bring?
A water bottle, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear.

Are there any access issues?
We will be walking over rough terrain (potentially muddy) woodlands, open fell and meadows with some steep sections. The pace will be slow and we will not leave anyone behind. Unfortunately, it is not suitable for wheelchairs.
