Description
This greeting card features illustrations from William James Linton’s ‘Ferns of the English Lake Country’. Linton was an English-born American wood-engraver, landscape painter, political reformer and author of memoirs, novels, poetry and non-fiction. Linton purchased Brantwood in 1851 and set up printing press for political pamphlets on-site. He also produced several natural history publications. If you venture into the Treasury exhibition at Brantwood you’ll notice at the far end a slogan from Linton’s time at Brantwood – ‘God and the people’.
