All Birds are Dada
Poetry – sound poetry – music by Kurt Schwitters and others
To mark the end of the exhibition ‘Emissaries of the Land’ German musician and performance artist Florian Kaplick has put together a special finissage performance, showcasing Kurt Schwitters beyond his visual work as prolific writer of poetry, sound poetry and prose in a vast range from dadaistic to critical political and always with a good sense of humour. Moreover, Schwitters was also a good and keen pianist himself. When he had to flee Nazi Germany he even made the effort to get his grand piano transported from Hannover to Oslo! Schwitters was known for his exceptional “Vortragsabende” (performance evenings) in Hannover and wherever he was invited, in Germany as well as abroad.
Florian Kaplick studied music at Nürnberg Conservatorium (piano, voice, conducting) and has been performing Kurt Schwitters’ works for many years. These will be placed in the context of Dada pre-runners and music with specific connections.Next to Schwitters there will be a selection of Hans Arp, Tristan Tzara, Mozart, Beethoven, Debussy, Satie, John Cage and more, at times in new shape and dadaistic collage technique.
Expect an exciting adventure into the great avant-garde(s)!
