‘Lilias Trotter’ by Miriam Huffman Rockness
John Ruskin proclaimed Lilias Trotter’s potential as one of the best artists of the nineteenth century but her devotion to Christ compelled her to abandon a life of art and privilege and devote herself to missionary service among the people of Algeria. Miriam, a graduate of Wheaton College and author, has painstakingly researched journals and letters written by Trotter, including correspondence with Ruskin, to provide a fascinating insight into this extraordinary woman.
