World Open Forum II: Lake District
2 February 2012
World Open Forum II is a radical alternative to the World Economic Forum at Davos, which will pose
questions about the nature of globalised industrial values and the type of society they produce. The Lake District event is an opportunity to participate in three days of dialogue, starting from the question `What is the radical agenda now?'.
The event is open to all and begins at noon on 2nd February with lunch at Brantwood. The itinerary (which runs from 2-4 February) includes visits to other venues with transport provided.

Frances Hatch: Drawn to Antarctica 2005-2012
21 April 2012
Brantwood 7pm (talk starts at 7.30pm)
"Antarctica's proximity made itself felt during the two day sea journey across the Antarctic Convergence. The sea temperature dropped suddenly by several degrees and we met cold Antarctic surface water, bringing with it mist, wandering albatrosses and icebergs". In Antarctica Frances glimpsed the opening of a special dimension where a chunk of floating ice might be as big as Belgium or indeed a bus. The artist shares her bewilderment and wonder, the personal challenges and insights gained through her two week visit and subsequent six year studio development.
Tickets cost £5 and includes a glass of wine on arrival. 10% discount for Friends Of Brantwood.
