`Art of Expedition: the artist's role in discovery'
A half-day study session looking at the role of artists on expedition over four centuries, including North America, the Pacific, Australia and Antarctica. With Elaine Shaughnessy and Brantwood Director Howard Hull.

£20 per person including light refreshments; concludes with a tour of the exhibition `A Terrible Beauty'.

`Travellers' Tales: adventures and expeditions through objects'
An informal evening in which Fellows of the Royal Geographic Society present glimpses into expeditions and experiences from South America to the Indian Ocean, and kayak paddles to corn grinders. Serious and lighthearted - depending on the object of choice!

`The Making of English Landscape Painting'
A study day looking at the origins and devlopment of the English Landscape tradition in watercolour painting. Heather Birchall, Curator of Historic Collections at the Whitworth Gallery leads this study day.

A wide range of quality crafts from around Cumbria, on display throughout Brantwood house. 10.30am until 5pm. £2 admission for craft fair & house, inclusive. No charge for child admissions.
Crafts include: Pottery, jewellery, fused glass, felt bags, swill baskets, wood turning, photographs, bird & animal wood carving, lavendar goods, furniture restoration, driftwood clocks, children's clothes, lakeland scents, food - to name but a few! |
