Sandra Orme returns to Brantwood again this year with a second pastel workshop on 26 April 2019. The day will be spent learning to create beautifully dramatic skies using layers of pastel on specialist pastel paper.
Sandra Orme is one of the North West’s leading pastel artists and workshop tutor. She teaches annually at The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford and has exhibited her work at the Pastel Society annual show at The Mall Galleries, London. She is an associate artists with one of the best pastel makes in the world, Unison Pastels. In this second workshop with Sandra at Brantwood, you will spend the day learning to create water and waves under dramatic skies in pastel. You will draw inspiration not only from the stunning setting of Brantwood on the shores of Lake Coniston but also further afield. Sandra will demonstrate at each stage followed by one-to-one tuition to help you develop your own evocative pieces. You will explore using layers of pastel on specialist pastel paper and can expect to produce two pieces of unique work. Specialist pastel paper will be provided for your day along with basic pastels. However we recommend that you purchase or bring along a few pastels of good quality – for example Unison or Sennelier – as this will help you develop the work further. Sandra also has her own Unison pastel sets which can be purchased through her website prior to attending the course. Please bring a packed lunch or lunch can be ordered from the Terrace cafe downstairs, refreshments are provided within the course fee.
