A one-day practical, hands-on, life drawing workshop with artist Sally Bamber. Your day will start with a welcome, introductions and an outline of the day’s activities. You will be working with a nude model. Starting the day with short poses to loosen up, working mainly with charcoal then progressing to experimental mark-making in order to view the model form in light and shade, and consider how the drawing fills the paper.
There will be books and printouts available to take a look at the diversity of styles and approaches from both history and from living artists. Before lunch we will look at the progress made. In the afternoon there will be a longer pose with a quiet long look, “the form swells from the inside” Delecroix. At 4.30pm we will look at the day’s achievements. Sally has prepared an aide memoire of the day to take home.
Sally’s experience in life drawing started at the Chelsea School of Art, then as a member of the Hesketh Hubbard Art Society at the Mall Galleries and today in local and private life drawing sessions – life drawing is essential study for all those interested in figurative drawing.
All materials will be provided and refreshments available throughout the day. Please bring a packed lunch (our in-house restaurant is also available on site for light lunches).
